Pillar two: Prayer

“Pray without ceasing…” (1 Thessalonians 5:17 ESV)

A Muslim is required to say seventeen cycles of prayer each day. These cycles are usually spread over five times a day – at dawn, noon, afternoon, sunset, and evening. The five prayer times can be observed individually or with a group. The noon prayer time on Friday is the time when most Muslims gather and pray together at the mosque.

They must wash themselves in a prescribed manner before praying, which is called ablution or wudu. Faithful Muslims will take the time to roll out their prayer rugs, carefully placing them so that they will be facing Mecca before praying. The discipline of praying five times a day is expected to lead a Muslim to be more patient, honest, and truthful in the affairs of his/her life.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray Christians will intensify the frequency of their praying for the Hui.
  • Pray faithful Hui will come to realize that there is more to religion than ritual.
  • Pray God’s Spirit will speak to the Hui during their prayers and reveal God’s love for them.
