Ramadan Prayer Emphasis
Begins March 10, 2024
Join us and pray for God to move among the Hui opening eyes and hearts to follow Jesus!
Why Pray during Ramadan?
For most Chinese Muslims, Ramadan is the most important time of the year. They make significant sacrifices and changes to their lives for 30 days as they seek to faithfully follow Islam. Most do not eat or drink anything during daylight hours during the month of Ramadan. Yet, they still go to work every day. Hui, Salar, and Dongxiang do not live in a country that follows Islam, so they are not able to stop working for an entire month to fast. They work while not eating or drinking. They go and pray five times a day. After sunset and prayers, they eat. Then they sleep for about 4 hours before waking up to eat breakfast at 3 am. Then they pray, sleep a couple more hours and go to work. Ramadan is a big deal. They believe it helps them get to heaven. For more information about Ramadan and fasting, read this post about fasting, this post about the night of power and this post about the night journey of Muhammad.
Muslims are seeking to follow what they believe is truth as best as they can during Ramadan. Muslims are praying for visions from God. What better time is there for Christ-followers to dedicate a month to praying for God’s Spirit to move in mighty ways among Muslims? This is a great time to pray for God to provide opportunities for Christ-followers to have spiritual conversations with Chinese Muslims that point them to Jesus and the salvation He alone provides. Ramadan is a great time to pray for God to give Chinese Muslims visions that point them to Jesus.
