Secret of a Hiding Place

Finding a hiding place to contemplate and pray is always my secret to seek for His strength, His presence, His promise and His guidance. Having a chance recently I found a field plain up on a mountain. Sitting on a rock, I looked across the field and privately meditated in prayer. The words in Isaiah 40:3-5 spoke to me.

Engage the Hui: Starting with Prayer

We are absolutely dependent on God to accomplish His mission among the Hui. Without the power of the Holy Spirit, there is no need for us to live among the Hui or spend time traveling among them on a short-term trip. Our money, time, influence, skills and charisma do not turn Hui people to Jesus; it only happens through the work of the Holy Spirit.

The Blessing Shower

It was the middle of summer. I sensed a great urge to form a corporate prayer group specifically for Muslim work worldwide. I had prayed over this burden for two months asking that local believers from a Muslim background join in and unite in prayer for seeing what God will do in this land as well as among the 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide. ‪In the afternoon of July 14, we had three come for prayer. After we prayed, one after another, for Muslim peoples, the windows of my apartment started shaking and we heard a thundering sound outside.

The God Who Hears

When we pray our requests should match the character of our God. In the same chapter of Luke, Gabriel tells Mary that “nothing will be impossible with God.” He is able to make the barren woman and the virgin give birth. When we pray for the Hui let us ask impossible things. Let us ask for miracles to be accomplished among the Hui so that they might believe. Let us pray that whole communities of Hui people will believe in Christ and then have a burden to share with their brothers and sisters. Let us ask that instead of the Hui being 99% Muslim that they would be 99% Christian in the next 20 years. Let us ask that mosques be turned into churches for the worship of our Lord. Let us pray for the impossible because nothing is too hard for God.
