Current Situation:
Over 80% of the 130,000 Salar people live in the province of Qinghai. The majority of Salar who live in Qinghai reside in Xunhua Salar Autonomous County. As these numbers suggest, the Muslim community is extremely important to Salar. Their cultural distinctives are: Islam, Central Asian ancestry, and their own unique language. The Salar people constantly face pressure to conform to Chinese culture. Whether Islam or Christianity, religion is a sensitive issue in Qinghai and is closely monitored. Laws restricting religious activities make sharing the gospel with Salar a very challenging task.
99.99% of Salar are Muslim, and only 0.01% of Salar profess to be Christian. There are very few Scripture and Gospel resources in the Salar language.

Prayer Needs:
- Pray for the few believers to stand firm in their faith and pass on the faith to their children.
- Pray for Scripture and Gospel resources to be produced in the Salar language and shared with Salar in Qinghai.
- Pray for wisdom and open doors for believers in Qinghai who have a heart to share with Salar.
- Pray for Chinese believers in other parts of China to go to Qinghai and engage in evangelism and missions to the Salar.
- Pray for Salar Muslims to join believers to study the Bible and learn about Christ.
- Pray for Salar Muslims to hear the Gospel and respond.
