We had an extra room that no one was using, so why not?

We met a friend who is Hui about six months ago, and we’ve since gotten to know her and her family. We learned during her school break that she was planning on living in a small, two bedroom apartment with her other five relatives. We knew we had an extra room available in our apartment, so we prayed about asking our friend to live with us for her two month school break. We felt like the Lord said yes to this, so we asked her, and she said yes. We also knew this would be a great opportunity for us to show hospitality and for her to see how followers of Jesus truly live. Every night as a family, we do a devotional together. We’ve been able to invite her to join us, and she’s been willing. It’s been pretty amazing listening to her read the words of Jesus herself. I think this experience of having her in our home has taught us even more about Jesus and who He is. We have seen how Jesus was willing to give of His time, energy, language, finances, kindness, patience, home, etc., all to show others who He is and why He came. There have been times that I’ve felt tired of speaking in her language and eating her strange Asian food, but then Jesus reminds me of all that He was willing to do for me that I might know Him.

“I’ve been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me, the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  (Galatians 2:20)

I’ve been bought with a price; how can I not give Him my all?

Please pray more men and women like this friend of ours will see our homes as places of peace and comfort and be willing to come in and taste and see that Jesus really is good!
