Many Hui in western China are being interned en masse and are being subjected to much of the same mistreatment as reported for other ethnic groups. Many Islamic cultural expressions have been prohibited. Arabic on street signs, restaurants, buildings, etc. has been outlawed and removed. Several domes have been removed from Mosques, and some Mosques completely demolished. The call to prayer at the mosques has been muted, men and women in certain job sectors aren’t allowed to wear their white caps or veils, and children under 18 are no longer allowed at mosques. Religious freedom across the country is being stripped away from minorities, including the Hui, Dongxiang, BaoAn, Salar, and HuiHui.

Pray

  • Pray for Muslims across East Asia who are being persecuted for their beliefs, even to the point of detainment and separation from their children.
  • Pray that through this persecution and detainment, through dreams and visions, that the gospel would be communicated to them and that they’d seek salvation and comfort through Jesus alone.
