I am a young Hui woman living in the city, and this is my son. I grew up in the village, but my husband and I have moved to the city to work and give our son better opportunities. When we moved, we borrowed money from our friends and family to open up a noodle shop. Most days business is just so so. We work from early in the morning until late at night, trying to earn enough money to pay our rent and meet our needs. We are not only responsible for meeting the needs of our immediate family, but we also financially care for my parents and my husbands parents, who are in poor health and remain in the village we grew up in. Life seems very difficult for us. It is an endless cycle of work and worry. However, I have hope that our son will study hard in school, go to university, and find a good job. Then all of our hard work will be worth it. He will be able to care for us when we are older and everything will be good then. Because I have this hope for the future, I push my son very hard to do well in school. Although he is young, it is important that he makes the best grades now so that he can go to the best high school when he is older. If he goes to the best high school, then he has better chances of going to a good university.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for families from the villages who are working in the city. Their lives are very hard. Pray that they would find relief from their burdens. Pray that they would meet believers in their places of employment and that they would hear the Gospel proclaimed.
  • Pray for families who are putting their hope in money and education for children. Pray that they would encounter Jesus and realize that He is the only true hope.
