The second chapter of Philippians contains the brilliant poem which praises Christ through professing his eternal existence, human birth, crucifixion, and exaltation. Hui people may have heard the name of Ersa (Jesus), in reference to the Qur’an, as a prophet of God to be highly revered. They may also have been warned against listening to Christians who worship this man Jesus. We pray that God would open blind eyes to see that Jesus Christ truly is God, the Son. For the glory of God, we ask that Hui would know Christ, worship him, and confess him as Lord!

Below is the Ramadan prayer guide for Day 9 through Day 15, covering Philippians chapter two.

Day 9: Unity

If, then, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, make my joy complete by thinking the same way, having the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Phil 2:1-2 CSB
We pray the enemy will have no foothold in missionaries’ homes or churches and that they will be united in their one purpose of abiding daily in Christ and making Your name great among the nations. Lord, unite the Hui believers’ churches with those of the majority Han. Help them to understand their goal is to glorify You. May they love each other with the love of Jesus and therefore be a light in the darkness.

Day 10: Humility

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4 CSB
Lord, we pray for more workers to be sent out to serve among the lost, that they may see the Hui as worthy of being served and sacrificed for. We pray for the Hui believers to submit to Your call on their lives to serve with humility those in their church, community, and province.

Day 11: Confess

For this reason God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow—in heaven and on earth and under the earth— and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:9-11 CSB
Lord, continue to give strength to believers to boldly proclaim the gospel to those who have not heard. We know that all people on earth will one day confess You as Lord. We pray for the Hui, that when they acknowledge You on judgement day that it will be as their Savior, Father, Redeemer, and Lord.

Day 12: Obedience

Therefore, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but even more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Phil 2:12 CSB
God, we pray that the missionaries among the Hui would demonstrate their faith day by day as they abide in their relationship with You.  Lord, even in the absence of many foreign workers in the field, we pray that Hui believers would obey Christ and His word and would continue to pursue their own sanctification.

Day 13: Desire

For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to his good purpose. Phil 2:13 CSB
Thank You for our own salvation and bringing us to redemption and saving faith in Christ. Help us to desire Your will and purpose. Lord, move in the hearts of the Hui. Remove the veil that hides their eyes from seeing Your Truth. Move in their hearts and help them to desire a saving faith in Jesus.

Day 14: Shine

Do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world Phil 2:14-15 CSB
Lord, bind together the churches among the Hui. Make them love, serve, and go out in unity for Your purposes so that they may reflect Your gospel witness to the lost around them. We cry out for the Hui, that one day each Hui person could claim to be a child of God, redeemed from their sinful ways and shining for Christ.

Day 15: Firm

…by holding firm to the word of life Phil 2:16 CSB
God we pray for a hedge of protection around missionaries among the Hui, that You would protect them from the evil one’s attempt to lure them from Your truth and message of life. Draw them near to You as they abide in Your word. Lord we long for this message of life to take root in the hearts of Hui unbelievers, that darkness would be pushed away, and abundant life in Christ could be found. Draw them out of their spiritual death toward a life in You.
