I am a young Hui girl attending a university in the south of China. There are not many Muslims where I am studying. It is hard for me to find places to eat that are Halal. Honestly, at this stage in my life, I am questioning the beliefs I have grown up with. I know all about Islam, but it seems to me that it is just a bunch of rules to follow. I have not experienced religion making a positive impact on people’s lives until I became friends with a few Christians. It is very interesting to me how they love talking about what they believe. They often claim that being a Christian has changed their life in a good way. I am a little confused by the love they show to others, but I really like it. I really like the ideals and lifestyle of Christians.

However, I am my family’s only child. There are many expectations for me to marry a Hui man and carry on the traditions of my family. Even though I do not really like this, I feel that I do not have a choice because I must honor my family.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for the college aged generation of Hui people. Pray that they would desire to know truth. Pray that the truth would set them free.
• Pray that Hui students with Christian friends would see beyond the ideals and lifestyles their friends lead. Pray that they would see Jesus, who is the source of all things good.
