Ramadan 2022 begins in one week, April 1st. Ramadan is considered the holiest month for Muslims. This month commemorates when Muhammad began to receive the message of the Qur’an. During this month, Muslims fast each day during daylight hours. It is a time of concentrated prayer with many feeling a heightened desire to submit to the will of Allah. Many Muslims are more sensitive to spiritual things this month and rather than pulling them deeper into Islam, we pray that God would tug on their hearts and show them truth. We pray that Hui Muslims would not seek to earn their salvation through prayers fasting and good works during Ramadan, but would come to know that salvation and the forgiveness of sin comes only through the cross of Christ. We are inviting you to pray with us during the month of April through the book of Philippians. We pray Scripture because it is the Word of God, and through it we understand the heart and will of God. Each day we will post a prayer prompted from a verse in Philippians. The Philippian church, like the Hui church, was new to the way of Christ. Paul wrote to encourage them in their faith and in their work of sharing the gospel with those in their region who had not yet heard.
Throughout this month, we pray with thanksgiving for the Chinese Christians and foreign missionaries who are actively witnessing for Christ among Hui people. We also continue to pray for Hui Muslims to turn to Christ and for Hui Christians to grow in their faith. We pray firmly believing that God is at work and that He will carry His good work among the Hui on to completion.
